Meanwhile, back at the Ranch

Here are some more images from the horse stables.  I have today off so I went back out to see if I could see any babies.  Not yet.  I did come across a goat who had escaped.  Luckily someone came by that captured him and put him back in his pen with all his buddies - who were making a rukus.
I took this photo a few weeks ago - isn't the sky amazing!
The escape artist - isn't he too cute!
I love the last photo.  This horse was so friendly.  He loved his nose being rubbed.  He was right next to the escape artist and was very interested in what I was doing.  So cute.

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 151 -- Baby Blankets!

Happy Hump Day!   Yep, once again, time to link up with Julia at Stamping Ground where it all begins.  This is a best day of the week for blog hopping.

I went to two baby showers on Saturday.  One blanket down and one about a third of the way done.   Here's a photo of the mom-to-be  with her blanket.  It was a big hit.  Isn't she too cute!
In the evenings I've been knitting on the second baby blanket.  This one is kind of a plain jane -- knit every row with size 10 needles.  I got smart!!!  This one isn't taking nearly as long!!!   I'll be done before the baby comes.
My workdesk at the moment
The photo is kind of dark.
Thanks for stopping by.    I will try to visit everyone that visits me and then those that have the same ending number.   Please leave your number with your comment - that way I can find you!

I hope the rest of your week is full of craftiness!

Peace,
Kay

My First Art Journal Page

I've been concentrating on my word for 2012 - blossom
I finished my first art journal page
in a book I found at the used bookstore.
The book is "Return to Love" by Marianne Williamson.

I love spreading the gesso around with my fingers.
There's something so child-like and innocent about it.
What do you think?

Kay

Day of the Dead

Am I morbid?  Is it normal?  I love Day of the Dead.  The bright colors, the white bones, flowers and large hats.  Men playing instruments.
These photos were taken at Tesuque Market.  A tiny little market and restaurant in Tesuque, New Mexico, located right outside of Santa Fe.
Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 150 - my canvas from last week

Another week has bit the dust!  It's Wednesday and that means the biggest blog hop is on!  If you don't know what I'm talking about go on over to Stamping Ground where it all begins, thanks to our leader, the fabulous and amazing Julia!

I used the huge toilet paper roll to make some circles on a canvas.   I absconded with the roll from work - I'm always looking at things a bit differently!
See those big white and pink circles
I finished the canvas you saw last week.  I really like it - the size and the bird.  I made the bird out of a coffee cup sleeve from Starbucks, cut out the bird then painted it with acrylic paint.  I can usually get three birds out of one sleeve, if I'm careful.
Waiting for the sides to dry
The desk.  It's a little messier than last week.  The two boxes on the left are full of acrylic paints.  A stack of canvases in various stages, brushes, Mod Podge, pencils and markers.
Thanks for stopping by.    I will try to visit everyone that visits me and then those that have the same ending number.   Please leave your number with your comment - that way I can find you!   Oh, and Bridget - you are on my GO TO list -- not only for your desk but for the food!  haaaa

Peace,
Kay

Barnyard Beauties

I took a drive back to the horse stables.  I love the smell of horses.  I really wish I had a curry comb with me so I could do some volunteer brushing.  Their coats are looking pretty sad right now.   Here's a few photos form my outing.
Look at those eyes!
What a cutie!
Old blue eyes
The goats were so funny.  They were lounging about and not really that interested in me, standing on the other side of the fence.  When I drove around the corner of their area they all came running.  Maybe that's the gate the owner comes through at feeding time.  They were all over me!

I hope you are having a great weekend.  It's very windy here and we've had a few snow flurries - that just means I get to stay inside and play!!

Peace,
Kay

Color Palettes

My name is Kay.  I am addicted to Pinterest.  Is there a seven step program for this?  I have had so much fun looking  - from animals to craft ideas,  home decoration and color palettes.  I really feel the urge to paint my home.   Right now the living room is two shades of yellow, the kitchen is two shades of green -- very pale, almost like a light celery color.  I have  a nice orange wall that leads upstairs.

I know I should go more neutral but I don't think it's in my blood.  I've been pinning color palettes.  Do you see a common theme?
Love the blue and gray - with accents in the deep raspberry color.....
I love the turquoise and the strawberry color. I even like the tan. I thought of painting my downstairs bathroom a light shade of gray - but maybe this would work.
I really like the darker turquoise in this one - maybe paint my orange wall this color.....
Paint the downstairs bathroom a gray - maybe between the top two colors...
Love the lighter turquoise - but is it too blue?
My kitchen is very pale greens - a pop of the apricot color looks cool
I'm not sure what I will end up doing.  I just need a little push to get started.  I like the gray colors in this one, along with the greens - not exactly turquoise, a bit milder than the other palettes that I've pinned.

What do you think?  Which colors speak to you?

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW - 149 - Holy Moly!

Holy Moly  It's Wednesday and that means it's one of the most  exciting days to surf blogs.  If you don't know what I'm talking about go on over to Stamping Ground where it all begins, thanks to our leader, the fabulous and amazing Julia!

I am finally done with one of my baby blankets.
This blanket is knitted using seed stitch.
As for the desk - what can I say?  It's a mess.  I've been going through my craft closets and am not putting anything back until I decide it stays.
Canvas, Mod Podge, what do you think that brown thing is?
It's a huge toilet paper roll (for circles), acrylic paint
Thank you ALL for your lovely support and well wishes.   I still get teary eyed thinking about my little Daisy dog.   Bless her soul.  The other day Katie (my other dog) was out in the backyard laying in the exact same spot where I found Daisy paralyzed.  It made my heart skip a beat.

I plan to visit desks that end in the same number as me.   I will also visit everyone who visits me (it helps when you leave your number!!).   After that I'll visit  as many as I can.  Although with my work schedule it may not be until the weekend.

Thanks for visiting.

Peace,
Kay

Baked French Toast - sooooo good!

I didn't realize it has been almost a week since I posted.
Time has gotten away from me.
Maybe I have too many things in the oven right now....
Here's one thing I had in the oven a few weekends ago.

Prepare this the night before and all you do is stick it in the oven and watch it bake!
You've heard it here before.  I love breakfast.
For those of you that like sweet things.
this one is for you!

1 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon (or more if you like it)
chopped walnuts
Melt the butter, brown sugar and cinnamon together.  In a square pan,
cover the bottom with the chopped walnuts.
Pour the brown sugar mixture on top of the nuts.

1 loaf french bread
6 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk

Cut the french bread into 1 - 1 1/2 inch slices, lay that on top of the mixture.
Beat the eggs and milk together.  Pour over the bread.
Cover and refrigerate over night.

Warm up the oven to 350 degrees.  Bake uncovered for about 30 - 40 minutes.
Cut and serve bottom side up.
Yummy for your tummy!

Enjoy
Kay

Getting Inky and Having Fun

I thought I'd give you a sneak peek at what I worked on this past weekend.
Artist Trading Cards (ATC)
I'm lovin' them.
Tiny works of art.

Do you notice something funky?
I didn't notice it until I was done.....
The background text is upside down!

Who said life is perfect?!?

Peace,
Kay
