Yard in Santa Fe

Hello everyone.  There's this house in Santa Fe that has the craziest yard you'll ever see.  I've always wanted to take photos of the yard, just for posterity.
What do you look at first?

I had to drive down this very narrow road and turn around to get in a location that was safe to take some pics.  This house is on a very busy street.

As a bonus, I saw this gate on the street I turned down.  I just love it.  These type of fences are called coyote fences.  I'm not sure why.  At first I thought they were ugly, not the normal type of fencing.  But now, I love them.  They have so much character.

WOYWW 273 - Knitting and photos

Happy Wednesday!  Yes, can you believe it; another week has gone by.  Not only that but August is wrapping up!  This is the day we all link up with Julia at Stamping Ground.  People from around the world share their desks and pr0jects.  If you don't know what WOYWW is all about go on over and check it out.  Warning - it can become addictive!

I made one of my photos into a stretched canvas.  If you want to take a look go to my previous post.  I'm thinking of calling her Maisie.

On my desk are some of my knitted spa cloths and a bunch of photos that I need to make into cards.   I do my knitting in my comfy chair in the living room - so I guess you could say my desk is somewhat "staged."
Also there is my paper towel holder of washi tape and my colored pencils.

As always I will visit those that visit me (please leave your number) and those that end in the same number as me.  It may not be until the weekend before I'm able to visit.

Peace,
Kay

First Canvas

Hello everyone.  Happy Monday.  Well, yes, I am at work (this is a scheduled post).  I'm happy because I have a job.  The company I work for has been laying people off, some without notice.  I was transferred to another organization and was quite upset about it.  After only one week at the new job I can say that it's been a blessing in disguise!

Now, what this post is REALLY about.  I wanted to see what my photos would look like on a canvas.  I have one of my favorite photos and thought of making it into a canvas.  I went to WalMart and waited and waited.  Finally, it was done.  It's not stretched as tight as I'd like but I am happy with the results.

What do you think?
Isn't he/she the cutest thing!  I saw this lovely cow and thought "what a cutie pie."  Right now she's hanging in my dining room.  Uh, good thing I've cut back on my meat intake......
I have several prints of him/her (heck, she's cute, I'm saying she's a girl!) that I plan to make into cards.  Like all my photos, there is no manipulation.  What I see through the lens is what you get.  I have done some cropping on other photos but that's the extent of editing.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

Peace,
Kay

Friends

I am so blessed to have the friends that I have.  Some of them I have never met in person.  You may ask, how can that be?  It's easy, really.
I see these friends up in the sky; sometimes in the clouds and sometimes in the stars.  They are dancing and mystical.  Cheering me on even when they don't realize it.  Lifting me up to a more creative life; adding so much joy that sometimes I just burst.

Thank you, my special friends!

Peace,
Kay

WOYWW 272 - Knitting My Heart Out!

Hello dear friends.  Happy Wednesday.   It's the day we meet up at Julia's place, at Stamping Ground.  This is the day that desks are shared from around the world.  Not only desks but sometimes we get to see wonderful projects too!

In my previous post I shared the backgrounds that I created in the Art Journaling class I took with Dyan.  It was non-stop action!

I started a new position at work so this week has been exhausting - so not much playing.  The sound of my knitting needles is very calming so I've been doing that while watching t.v.  I've been knitting spa cloths using the seed stitch.  If you're a regular here you've heard about these before.

So, my desk has been my comfy arm chair (that rocks - can you see it?  Me rocking and knitting at the same time?).   I didn't take a photo of my spa cloths so I thought I'd share the owl that my friend knitted for me.  Yep, I love all things owl!
As always, I will visit those that visit me and end in the same number as me.  I will more than likely get around on either Friday or Saturday.

Peace,
Kay

Art Journal Pages from Dyan's Class

Hello everyone!  As promised, I'm sharing the backgrounds I created when I took the Art Journaling class with Dyan Reaveley.  It was high speed, non-stop!
I just couldn't pass up this opportunity.  To say that I'd gotten stale and in a creative funk would be an understatement!  This definitely got the juices flowing and I can't wait to continue!
One of my favorite pages.
You never waste ink.  Clean your stencils on another page.
Love the brick stencil.
Pardon the finger.....
I love the background.
Dyan was talking and we had to write what she was saying.  She told us that if we missed a word to just keep writing.  Needless to say I missed more than just a word.  And don't mention that I spelled her name wrong!
You can put tags in the four folded down corners.  Very cool!
Page where I cleaned off the stamps and stencils.
Using a curvy plastic tool created for Dyan (you can purchase), draw the curve on the pages (in this case four) then cut.  We used the same tool to draw the line in a bit and then doodled in between the lines.  I need this tool!!
In another part of the journal we added the pieces of paper that we cut out and secured them with tape.  She didn't call it washi tape but I think that would work too.  You just have to be sure to get the tape on both sides of the journal and make sure you can open the pages.
We also used this tool to draw the lines around the journal page above where Dyan dictated to us.  It can be used for so many things!
Love these colors.
Back of my journal.
Front of my journal.
You can see where the inks from the pages ran out and where the mat I was working on wasn't clean and picked up inks.  If I remember correctly the first thing we had to do was squirt the front and back of our journals (to break them in).  That's a big deal to me.  I love the clean and crispness of a clean page.  How's an art journaler supposed to get past that?  Well, just spray!

I hope you enjoyed this post and you managed to make it to the end.  It's picture heavy and I didn't even share everything!

Peace,
Kay

This Weeks Smiles - Week 82

Happy Friday!  I don't know about you but I'm ready for the weekend!  I'm linking up with Annie at A Stitch In Time.   If you need to smile hop on over and see what others are sharing.
I think this photo says it all.

Have a wonderful weekend!

WOYWW 271 - Getting Inky and Organized!?!

Hello dear friends.  Happy Wednesday.   It's the day we meet up at Julia's place, at Stamping Ground.  This is the day that desks are shared from around the world.

Can you believe I'm getting inky?  Check out my previous post on how I dove into the Art Journaling world.  I took a class with Dyan Reaveley.  It was very intense but a lot of fun.

A background I started in Dyan's class.
Flower we made using one of her stamp sets.
Playing with my camera - this is the flower we made.
Same flower close up.
I found the wire rack at the thrift store and spray painted it white.  I'm happy with how it turned out.  That's a paper towel holder that I have my washi tape on; a letter K that I need to work on, a huge mug full of colored pencils and a few of Dyan's Dylusions Sprays.
Bookshelf to the right of my desk.

As always, I will visit those that end in the same number as me and those that visit me (please leave your number).  It may not be until Saturday that I'm able to get around to everyone, but I will do my best.

Here's a question for google bloggers.  I scheduled several posts and they didn't publish when I set them to.  So, I published one on Monday and when it went "live" it said Saturday - the day I set it to publish.  Can anyone shed some light?

Art Journal Class with Dyan

Hi everyone!  I'm sorry I've been MIA for quite a while.  Many changes at work have happened and I was in a total funk about it.

One thing to get ANYONE out of a funk is Dyan Reaveley!  The class was held at Guadalupe Fun Rubber Stamps.  It was a full day of learning techniques to create backgrounds.

You definitely get your money's worth.  She is one quick gal.  We created so many backgrounds using different techniques.  Getting photos of her that aren't blurry is a major accomplishment!
She's a lovely woman with an interesting life story.  The class was non-stop action!
Can you believe I kept wiping my hands off and this is still what they looked like!  Yep, it was a inky mess!

I haven't taken photos of my pages yet but will soon.   Here's more photos from the class.
Pages from Dyan's journal that she shared with the class.
One of my favorites

Peace,
Kay
